A Brush with Kindness is a Phelps County Habitat for Humanity program that helps low-income homeowners with simple exterior repairs and accessibility improvements, including painting, landscaping, minor repairs, and wheelchair ramp construction. Aging, disabilities, and unexpected life circumstances can make home maintenance difficult, and this volunteer-driven program helps neighbors throughout Phelps County, Missouri live more safely and independently in their homes.

We focus strictly on exterior health, safety, and accessibility improvements. Our volunteer teams can help with:

To be eligible for the program, you must meet our baseline criteria:

Reasonable accommodations are gladly made. Sweat equity can be completed through lighter tasks (like preparing water for volunteers or helping with paperwork), or can be completed on your behalf by friends, family members, or church groups.
